Lab Technician III

Job Description

· LABORATORY TECH III will support product development and skin biology research by working in the Skincare Biological Research Group laboratory, by delivering test results of new cosmetic formulation/product, and by exploring novel skin biology techniques.

· Requires ability to follow laboratory procedures with attention to detail, and to execute experiments successfully.

· May require coming on weekends to maintain cell/tissue culture (1 to 2 days per month).

Main Area of Responsibilities:

· Working collaboratively with team members

· Preparing reagents, performing lab experiments, and analyzing data from including, but not limited to qPCR, Western blotting, and microscopy.

· Culturing and harvesting cell/tissue and isolating mRNA and/or proteins.

· Reporting experiment results in individual and/or group meetings

· Checking, maintaining, and operating various types of equipment and instrument.

· Maintaining supplies and reagent inventory.

Requirements:

· Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of cellular and molecular biology techniques, at least one area of 1) cell/tissue culture, 2) gene expression analysis such as qPCR, and 3) protein analysis such as Western blotting and ELISA

· Preference on knowledge of skin biology and experience with monolayer and 3D cell culture models

· Excellent communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills

· Computer proficiency with common PC software such as MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Life Science related

· Minimum three years of industry experience in laboratory settings after graduation

What hours and days will this person be working:

· Need to come on weekend (Sat or Sun), 0-3 times/month depends on study.

· Weekend hours will be approx. 4hours main role is changing cell culture medium.

What are the top 5 skills/requirements this person is required have?

· Required Skill 1: Cell culture experience (any cell)

· Required Skill 2: RNA isolation, gene expression analysis.

· Required Skill 3: Protein expression analysis.

· Required Skill 4: Computer proficiency with common PC software such as MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

· Required Skill 5: Ability to follows oral and complex written instructions.

What years of experience, education, and/or certification is required?

· Bachelor’s degree with minimum of two-three years of experience in a related field at academia/pharmaceutical laboratory setting

What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification?

· Experience in histology technique either IF or IHC.

· Experience in 3D/organoid cellular culture model

· Knowledge of skin biology

· Familiar and experience with writing SOPs

What positions/background experience do you feel are successful in this role

· Have worked in academia/pharmaceutical laboratory setting as lab technician/lab assistant.
