Area: Stellenbosch Cape Town

A hotel group operating in the hospitality industry has a 6-month contract position for a Financial Accountant available at their Head Office in Stellenbosch Central. The person will be responsible for the accounting, finance-related administration and tax function of various entities within the group.

Duties and responsibilities WRT various entities in the group:

Annual Accounting/Audit Duties - Prepare Trial Balance for submission to the auditors;

Year-end balance sheet reconciliations (customers, suppliers, intercompany loans, etc.);

Year-end adjusting journals;

Prepare and finalise trial balance for annual audit;

Prepare and finalise supporting schedules to trial balance;

Prepare and finalise draft financial statements for approval by management;

Assist auditors with audit queries;Income Tax

Calculation of Income Tax Liabilities of various entities within the group;

Submission of Income Tax Returns via e-filing;

Review of Income Tax Assessment;

All SARS related administration and correspondenceAdministrative

General finance related tasks or special projects required by senior management (CEO or GFM)

Comfortable in communicating with senior management, colleagues, customers, suppliers, etcQualifications and experience required:

BComm. (Fin Accounting), BComm. (Management Accounting) or BAcc. Degree

Completed articles (preferably SAIPA)

2 years post-article experience beneficial

Registered member of a professional accounting body beneficial (preferably SAIPA)

Registered SARS tax practitioner beneficialKnowledge and skills:

Knowledge of investment properties and hospitality industry will be advantageous;

Experience with MS Office, including Excel;

Experience with Pastel Partner - at least 3 years;

Experience with Pilot and Protel will be beneficial;

Experience with bookkeeping up to trial balance and balance sheet - at least 3 years;

Ability to work independently, follow through tasks, use own judgement as required;
