Backlight is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our current products and customers, while also taking point on developing new features and functionalities defined in our Product Roadmap.

The mission of the Engineering Team is to support Backlight’s current products and customers, while building and delivering the products defined in the Backlight Product Roadmap in a timely manner, with a heavy focus on quality, performance, and scalability. We will work cross functionally to ensure we are serving the needs of our customers and end users.

About the Role:

Collaborate with the Engineering Team to ensure we deliver exceptional products that meet the needs of our customers and end-users.

Design, maintain, and enhance our ftrack pipeline tools and DCC integrations.

Actively participate in the development and implementation of new features and technologies.

Uphold the highest standards for application performance and quality.

Identify and efficiently resolve software bottlenecks and bugs.

Tech Stack:

Python

PySide / QT

APIs and SDKs related to DCCs

Proficiency in Git, CI/CD, and test automation practices

Bonus Points:

While not mandatory, experience with video and machine learning technologies is a plus.

Experience with production tracking software, preferably ftrack.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)

Minimum 5 years of software development experience with strong Python proficiency.

Minimum 5 years of experience working with production pipelines and asset workflows in the film or video game industries.

Proven experience developing tools for DCC packages (Maya, Houdini, Nuke).

Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills (English), and a collaborative spirit.
