Reporting to the Associate Director, Employee and Labour Relations, the Manager, Employee & Labour Relations will be responsible for providing advice and support across OMERS and Oxford and will manage and lead complex investigations, terminations, severance negotiations, alternative dispute resolution processes, performance management, and labour relations processes. Furthermore, the Manager will provide sound advice to people leaders on the interpretation and application of legislation, processes, policies, and collective agreements across multiple jurisdictions.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

Provide people leader support and guidance on a range of employee relations matters.

Lead complex workplace investigations, draft investigation reports, and implement corrective actions and workplace remediation.

Manage the full cycle termination process.

Support and coach people leaders in the development and delivery of skills enhancement programs.

Identify trends and areas of opportunity using data and analytics. Communicate recommendations to senior leaders and achieve alignment on proactive measures to address workplace concerns.

Work to improve the overall employee experience.

Leverage technology to optimize processes.

Review and approve non-medical workplace accommodations.

Review and maintain HR Policies and Guidelines and ensure alignment with legislative requirements and best practices globally.

Provide interpretation of policies and collective agreements.

Conduct mediations and workplace assessments to improve workplace culture.

May be required to manage Labour Relations processes such as grievances, arbitrations, labour management meetings and collective bargaining.

Develop and implement people leader education on Employee Relations topics.

Collaborate within HR team on various policy and compliance issues.

Assist with other special projects, as required.

To succeed in this role, you have:

5+ years of Employee and/or Labour Relations experience.

Completed post-secondary education, preferably in Human Resources, Law or Business Administration, CHRL strongly recommended. Master of Industrial Relations/ Human Resources, or LLB is an asset.

Global employee and labour relations experience in US, Europe and Asia Pacific Regions is an asset

Strong negotiation skills and ability to interface with external parties (e.g., legal counsel, union representatives) with strong understanding of union environment and CBAs.

Solid understanding of legislation, policies and standards.

Strong relationship management, effective listening, communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Strong judgment and problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and deadlines

Adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset

Knowledge of HR systems and technology. Working knowledge of Workday an asset.
