This is a nine-month term position with the possibility of an extension to a second academic year depending on Department needs.

The University of Tampa (UT) is a comprehensive, independent, predominately undergraduate private institution of ~10,500 undergraduate and graduate students with a faculty-to-student ratio of 17:1 and average class size of 21. UT reflects this vibrancy; UT boasts 250+ student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and 140 countries, and “Top Tier” ranking in U.S. News & World Report.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an energetic individual with an enthusiasm for teaching physics and astronomy at the undergraduate level, including both science and non-science majors. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in undergraduate education and primarily be responsible for teaching general physics courses and labs, with the possibility of teaching more advance courses depending on experience and interest. Engagement in Department, College, and/or University service is also expected. Scholarly activity will be encouraged but not required. Current physics faculty lead active research programs in computational and observational astronomy, and they hold active NASA-funded programs. The University encourages the attendance of its faculty at professional meetings by providing funds for travel.
