POSITION TITLE: Assistant Football Coach - Part Time REPORTS TO: Head Football Coach POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Football Coach provides assistance to the Head Football Coach regarding recruitment, coaching, and retention of offensive football players.

Demonstrating a willingness and capability to abide by Athletic Department, Eureka College, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III rules as applicable in football, the Assistant Football Coach provides assistance to the Head Coach as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Assist with the teaching the sport of football to the student-athletes at Eureka College.

* Assist with the evaluation, recruitment, and retention of football athletes, at Eureka College.

* Assist with meeting recruitment and retention goals set by the college.

* Assist the Head Coach with recruitment reports.

* Assist with the daily planning, organization, and supervision of practices and competitions.

* Contribute to the overall program of a residential college.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assist with the supervision, care for, and inventory equipment and facility.

* Maintain effective working relationships within the athletic department team and the College as a whole in order to contribute to the overall success of all sport programs.

* Positively lead and contribute as a member of the Athletic Department both internally, around the college, and to external groups.

* Assist with the oversight of academic progress of student-athletes on the team.

* Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: Manage and coordinate meetings as assigned.

Depending on whether or not the individual is hired in a coordinator role, the individual could supervise other assistant coaches and student-assistants.

EDUCATION: Essential: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university; or High School diploma/GED with related professional playing experience.

Desirable: Master's Degree.

EXPERIENCE: Essential: Experience coaching football at the high school or college level; or playing experience at the college or professional level.

Desirable: LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid driver's license.

CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: * Knowledge of football, rules and regulations, including NCAA and NACC (as applicable to football). * Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of coaching.

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

* Ability to deliver knowledge to and instruct student-athletes in an effective manner.

* Knowledge of safety and first aid techniques.

* Skill in identifying problems, evaluating alternatives and implementing effective solutions.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse population.

* Ability to positively contribute to a team environment.

* Knowledge of basic computer applications and electronic mail.

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Work is routinely performed indoors, in office environments and in gyms, and other recreational environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

Off campus travel is required.

WORK SCHEDULE: Work schedule varies as this is a part-time, stipend position.
