As the Indoor Plant Lead, you are critical to the success of our houseplant division. In addition to being the main cashier and primary point person for indoor plant sales, you will work directly with customers to answer questions, diagnose pest and disease issues, and recommend solutions. You will be responsible for purchasing and merchandising indoor plants, and for sales and training of the sales team for indoor plants.
This position is a great fit for someone who has solid knowledge of indoor plant varieties and care, an aptitude for working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and who works well with colleagues and customers. This is a year-round position with 30-40 hours of work per week, depending on the season. Weekend work is required as this is our busiest time!

What You’ll Do
Perform Cashier duties, using the Point-of-Sale system to process transactions.
Order indoor plants, pottery, and décor products with input and oversight from the Store Manager.
Assist customers with purchase decisions.
Maintain and care for plants, including pruning, fertilizing, and disease and pest control.
Stock shelves, move products, and implement merchandising plans.
Maintain inventory accuracy through inventory counts and reporting.
Train and coach the shared sales staff on marketing and horticultural care standards.
Train new cashiers on indoor procedures and cashiering
Perform store maintenance duties.
Diagnose pests and diseases from leaf samples and photos that customers provide.
Required Qualifications
High level of horticulture knowledge of indoor plants
Displays exceptional customer service skills
1-2 years of retail garden center purchasing experience
Is eager and quick to learn new tasks and maintain pace
Shows up on time and prepared for work each day
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure
Is able to lift 50 pounds daily
Is able to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and squat
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
