Job Description
ATCS's Construction Services group is seeking a qualified Traffic Signal Inspector to join our team in Northern Virginia for upcoming projects requiring expertise in traffic signal installations and modifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in inspecting traffic signal controllers, signal heads, backplates, crosswalks, signs, and pavement markings. The role involves ensuring compliance with contract specifications, conducting quality assurance checks, and coordinating closely with contractors and project engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections of traffic signal installations and modifications.
Review and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure work meets regulatory standards and project requirements.
Prepare detailed daily progress reports.
Perform field tests on materials (e.g., concrete, soil, HMA).
Document labor compliance, safety measures, and processing estimates.
Calculate and determine pay quantities for completed work.
Utilize VDOT AWP system for daily reporting and pay quantity entries.
Required Qualifications:
3-6 years of experience in transportation construction inspection, specifically with traffic signal installations.
Knowledge of VDOT specifications and standards.
Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements on construction sites.
Proficiency in mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Experience with field engineering equipment and testing methods.
Certifications Required:
IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I and Level II
ACI Concrete Certification
VDOT Pavement Marking Certification
VDOT Asphalt Field Level I and Level II Certifications
VDOT Guardrail (GRIT) Certification
VDOT Intermediate Work Zone & Flagger Certification
Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification
Hazmat Certification (valid until 10/27/2025)
Optional: OSHA 10 Hour Construction (recommended)
Optional: OSHA 30 (recommended)
