Job Description
Highland United Methodist Church has a staff opening for a part-time Youth Pastor. 1) This position is for a gifted leader capable of bringing the churched and un-churched youth in our community closer to God by following the examples of Jesus Christ. You will lead, develop, and manage ministry programs (weekly, monthly, quarterly); primarily Sunday School on Sunday mornings and Youth Group on Sunday nights. 2) The Youth Pastor will be proficient in organizing, communicating with and leading our youth, parents, and recruiting adult volunteers. 3) This person will also be a relational person who spends some of planned time outside the four walls of the church building. 4) The ideal candidate will exhibit a spiritual focus, a dynamic personality, and ability to direct and relate well with a variety of ages. We are searching for a candidate with a desire to grow the youth ministry at Highland. 5) The Youth Pastor will also work collaboratively with the Pastor, staff, other ministry leaders, parents and volunteers.
Youth Group meets Sunday evenings from 6-8pm. Worship on Sundays at 9:30am and 11:00am. Current Youth Sunday School meets at 11:00am.
We are a United Methodist congregation. Applicants need not have a Methodist or Wesleyan background, but there would be an expectation that the candidate would be in alignment with Wesleyan theology. Further, our church has a welcoming statement inviting ALL to worship and to participate fully into the life and ministry of the church. This includes those in the LGBTQ community.
College degree and experience preferred. Salary negotiable re: experience and education.
