Job Summary: The position of Shop Foreman is to manage workers in the shop and to provide administrative support to the Branch/Plant Manager to ensure the quality of product built and delivered is per the agreed-upon customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
Interviews and hires job candidates.
Trains new employees and manages their training
Creates and posts work schedules and updates workers about schedule changes and deadlines
Explains to workers how to complete tasks
Perform worker performance evaluations
Perform disciplinary actions
Deals directly with clients and assists sales
Creates drawings, blueprints or prototypes based on conversations with clients and project managers.
When issues arise, helps to resolve them quickly to get production moving to meet deadlines
Maintains all the shop’s equipment, such as non-electric, electric and air powers tools, torches, grinders and presses; or oversees the maintenance of the equipment by workers
Safety Coordinator for the Shop
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety.
Participate in and lead regulatory agency audits and fire marshal inspections
Monitor all current information on regulations and requirements related to hazardous materials and agents; disseminate as appropriate
Obtain all required OSHA certification
Lead and coordinate monthly self-inspection programs and safety observations
Work with and attend captive group meetings
Conduct training and certify forklift operators
Conduct Safety orientations for all new employees
Attend all safety meetings
Promote the near miss program and hazard awareness/Tool Talks
Respond and provide assistance to all emergency situations
Conduct accident investigation, data analysis and prevention programs and procedures.
Maintain awareness of safety risks and bring to the manager’s attention.
Distribution of incoming information from Corp/Javier/HR as needed.
Perform Allen Essentials Observations Monthly
Make sure all safety documents are stored in correct space on the server
Quality
Work with quality control coordinator to be sure issues are identified and corrected.
Problem solving
Ensure pictures, documentation and UL completed.
Provide pictures to PM and others as need arises.
Weekly functions
Review and verify finished goods
Review and verify stock inventory levels
Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company
Adherence to all mandated safety procedures including: driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety
Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures
Informs management of any safety related issues
Ensures safety of self and others through proper use and care of equipment/work area
Handles and operates all equipment in a careful and safe manner
Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and stores them properly
Keeps all work areas neat and clear of potential hazards
Other duties as assigned.

Apply personal safety measures including utilizing the correct PPE
Ability to take measurement of a job (ex: using a tape measure, steel rule, tri square)
Knowledge of carpentry skills
Knowledge of packing/crating procedures
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required.

Standing.
Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Light work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity. To perform close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection.
Reaching: Extending hands and arms in all direction
Forward bending, squatting, overhead reaching, kneeling/crawling, and climbing
Continuous standing
Lifting: Up to 70 lbs and team lifting up to 100 lbs
Carry and use 5 lb to 10 lb power tools or paint containers very frequently
Pushing and pulling
Moderate level of hand to eye coordination and dexterity including picking, pinching, holding, grasping and repetitive flexion/rotation
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with overtime as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: No travel required.
Educational Requirements:
Highschool diploma or GED.
Preferred Educational Requirements:
Technical school training or certification
Knowledge Requirements:
Operating shear and brake
Forklift certificate
Operate electric and pneumatic tools
General construction methods
Hand tools
Overhead crane certification
OSHA general industry standards
