Overview:

Directs the daily activities on a designated shift safely and efficiently to achieve the desired quality, quantity, and timely baking, processing, and packaging of products.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates the shift’s production and material handling activities through the supervision of employees to ensure the shift’s production objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.

Reviews staffing for all departments.

Maintains control over staffing and labor costs in production-related areas through cost-effective scheduling and utilization of personnel.

Maintains the processing/baking performance for scheduling, production, quality, and safety standards.

Controls/minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and downtime.

Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.

Ensures all required production reporting is timely and accurate.

Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching, and leadership to employees.

Maintains good employee and corporate relations.

Coordinates with other department managers and supervisors to ensure proper material handling, maintenance, accounting, and inventory control activities and procedures.

Maintains company standards for cleanliness, productivity, and maintenance in the production and material handling areas.

Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.

Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.

Directly supervises 10 – 40 employees in the bakery, processing, packaging, and material handling areas. Responsible for the direction, coordination, and results of all departments during a designated shift. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, training, scheduling, and appraising employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

2 – 3 years of production experience in a manufacturing environment is required, preferably in a food-related industry.

High school graduate or equivalent.

Working knowledge of scheduling and production processes.

BA/BS degree in a related field preferred.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and occasionally lift while moving about the facility. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant is loud. Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beardnets (if facial hair exists) and steel toed / slip-resistant shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
