The Position

Purpose of the role

The Product Owner role is a crucial one in agile software development teams, being responsible for understanding and representing the needs of the end-users and stakeholders. Its main goal is to use that knowledge to ensure that the development team is working on the features that deliver the most value to the customers at the right cost.

Main responsibilities:

Support Product Managers in maintaining a clear vision of the product and share it to the team regularly

Take ownership of the Team Backlog

Be available to the team to answer questions

Prioritize Team Backlog items based on Customer Value

Communicate actively with stakeholders (Product Managers, Business Owners, …)

Involve team members in Team Backlog improvements

Adapt Team Backlog to Customer Feedback

Find the best compromise between Customer Value and Team Effort

Inspire and align the team using iteration goals and PI objectives

How would your day to day look like?

As an intern, you would typically assist the main Product Owner in the tasks that correspond to their role. This could involve conducting user research, gathering and analyzing requirements, prioritizing feature development, creating backlog items, and participating in agile ceremonies with the rest of the development team.

Who are you?

A motivated person who wants to develop the following hard and soft skill:

Recently graduated -no more than 3 years- in the fields of Biomedical, Computer science, Biomedicine or related, and Business Administration profiles.

Communication skills: Effective communication is essential to convey the vision, requirements, and priorities to the development team and stakeholders. This includes active listening, clear articulation, and the ability to facilitate discussions.

Analytical skills: The ability to gather and analyze data, customer feedback, and market research to make informed decisions is important.

Agile mindset: Familiarity with agile methodologies and principles is necessary. This includes understanding concepts like user stories, prioritization techniques, and iterative development.

Collaboration and leadership: Working closely with cross-functional teams, such as developers, designers, and testers, requires strong collaboration skills. The product owner should also be able to lead the team towards a shared vision and foster a collaborative work environment.

Negotiation: The Product Owner acts as the bridge between the development team and stakeholders, ensuring that the product meets the needs and expectations of all parties involved.

Knowledge broker: Gathering, synthesizing, and sharing information between various stakeholders involved in the development and delivery of a product.

Organization: The ability to effectively manage and coordinate tasks, resources, and information in order to achieve specific goals or objectives.

Decision-making: The ability to make informed and timely decisions is important for a product owner. This includes weighing options, considering trade-offs, and making choices that align with the product vision and business goals.
