Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): Helps students transition to and from assigned schools and Alternative learning Centers. Serves as a hearing officer for student due process hearings. Provides support for identified at risk students.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Regular and reliable attendance is an expectation of the job.

Job Duty/Resp. 1:

Provides Due Process to students expelled through the Level 1 hearing process

Job Duty/Resp. 2:

Provides proactive student support through the informal hearing process.

Job Duty/Resp. 3:

Provides student support as a transition liaison for students returning to their assigned school from the ALC.

Job Duty/Resp. 4:

Maintain written records of the decisions from all Level I appeal hearings

Job Duty/Resp. 5:

Weekly follow-up with students once they are placed in the ALC

Job Duty/Resp. 6:

Contact parents of expelled students who are scheduled to return to school at the beginning year

Job Duty/Resp. 7:

Bi-weekly follow-ups with students who have transition back into their school of zone.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education: Master's in Educational Administration or equivalent

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations Required: Certificated Administrator license

Experience: Five years of school administration experience

Skills Required: Fair and unbiased decision-making ability, non-confrontational people skills, able to communicate verbally and in writing with all parties (may require use of a translator) and the ability to interpret and apply student discipline codes.

Level 3: Performs semi-routine work involving set procedures and rules, but with frequent problems; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure.

Level 4: Makes decisions with moderately serious impact - affects work unit and may affect other units or citizens.
