Job Description

Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio is growing, and we are seeking a Comptroller to lead the accounting department. Our ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in accounting, preferably an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, FP&A experience, and at least five years of experience in public accounting. The Certified Public Accountant will demonstrate a commitment to the practice and to the accurate and timely completion of all assigned tasks.

Responsibilities:

Manages the accounting department and team by ensuring accurate and timely financial information

Analyze financial records to prepare tax returns, create budget reports, and conduct audits

Prepare tax returns, file appropriate forms, and make timely payments

Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information

Document financial transactions by entering account information

Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options

Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports

Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents

Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures

Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information

Secure financial information by completing database backups

Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions

Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results

Analyze financial information and summarize financial status

Provide technical support and advice on management

Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures

Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule

Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance

Serve as a backup to the staff accountant

Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting

Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles

Highly proficient with accounting software

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other related field (required)
