JOB SUMMARY

The Product Line Manager (PLM) develops and leads the strategic direction of the product line. Must understand both internal and external Customer needs and work with the relevant functional groups to assure competitive products. The strategy should balance Sales and Operations' needs through use of an effective S&OP system while maximizing market share and profitability. The PLM is the product communicator, able to lead without direct authority, understands the Sales and Customer environment, knows the product technically along with its applications, and have good general business acumen.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Takes full accountability for Product Line - ensuring there is a cost / benefit analysis for all projects – working alongside other Product Support Managers, Product Line Managers, Systems Engineers, and Internal Stakeholders to ensure the requirements are met, and that product control is effective.

Ensuring a thorough understanding of the global market (by region) for given Product Line, including but not limited to market size, pricing, technical trends, and competitor capabilities.

Leads the S&OP process for Canrig. Facilitates vetting of product forecasts from Sales while facilitating review with Mfg. and other internal Stakeholders to define and confirm forecast builds in order to maintain competitive lead times, optimum inventory positions and customer satisfaction through timely deliveries.

Leads the effort to ensure products are cost-competitive while meeting market requirements.

Develop and implement strategies that will enable Canrig to profitably increase its market.

Establish and define customer and product requirements for new products and R&D.

Supporting the Sales and Commercial operations team on major tenders and long-term services agreements and account strategies.

Develop & communicate strategies to launch new products and optimize returns from existing products including product definition and pricing, for an optimum mix of market penetration and acceptable margins.

Rationalizes model offerings with Sales such that preferred models are fully supported by the organization and non-preferred models do not overextend resources or inventory.

Receives and manages requests for technical support to minimize Engineering distractions while communicating decisions back to the requestors.

Develops quotation templates and product configuration forms to ensure product correctly meets the Customer’s and Canrig’s expectations.

Identifies product line weak links and/or gaps and develops plans to rectify and strengthen.

Ensuring new product developments are delivered to the market with detailed product launch plans.

Meets with customers and Canrig Sales to understand the market, competitive landscape and needs for products and services.

Develops business case and business plan for new product contributing to the strategic plan of the Enterprise,

Works with Engineering to set priorities relative to the development of new products and other projects.

Leads the introduction to Sales and Customers of new products.

Creates new product Functional Product Specification (FRD) outlining the requirements of a new product within the Product Line.

Directs the development and approves the type and content of marketing materials used in promotion of assigned products.

Maintain a competitive database for all products, including market share, product performance, and cost/price positioning.

In conjunction with Engineering ensure that appropriate resources exist for technical support to the Sales organization.

Prepares and distributes product reports.

Manages a small team of functional project managers and technical applications support.

Other Product Line related functions as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS

10+ years’ work experience in upstream oil & gas or other industrial market.

Proven leadership experience with the ability to plan, organize and execute.

Exhibit high degree of initiative and is adaptable to change.

Demonstrates assertiveness in pursuing open issues to closure.

Must possess solid knowledge of business opportunity development.

Understanding of basic financial tools.

Knowledge of drilling rig operations and basics of well construction.

Well organized and have excellent communication skills.

Ability to work comfortably across functional groups in a matrix environment.

Proficient in MS Office products, ERP / MRP systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Drilling equipment / oilfield experience, preferably in an Engineering, Sales, Operations, Product Line or Service role.

Product Management experience.

Technical Bachelors

Master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or another Technical or Commercial field.

Demonstrated success in identifying issues / opportunities, creating problem-solving solutions and implementation of those solutions to a positive outcome.

International experience.

Direct personnel supervision experience.

Business case experience.

Sales experience, direct or indirect
