Job Description

HANAC, Inc. – originally founded by George Douris as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City-based multi-faceted social services organization. The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.

The Driver will provide client transportation to and from senior centers, shopping, social events, and local transportation.

Rate of pay: $17.00

Schedule: (22 hours per week) (M, T, Th: 8:00 am-3:30 pm)

Location: 13-28 123rd Street – College Point NY 11356

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Safely transport homebound elderly clients in the company passenger van to and from various destinations as scheduled.

Escort and assist clients from apartments to the vehicle and back, when necessary, and the ability to determine that need.

Ensure the safety of clients on board by requiring the use of seatbelts, wheelchair brackets, and any other safety devices.

Assist in scheduling routes.

Legibly complete passenger logs on a daily basis.

Collect and record participant contributions on a daily basis in the lockbox

On Occasion, as per the driver’s supervisor, deliver food from JVL to Spiti, local banking, post office, and assignments as given.

Maintain vehicle in clean and good operating condition.

Inspect the vehicle daily and report any operational or structural defects to the supervisor immediately.

Oversee routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of the vehicle (fuel fill, oil changing, tire rotation/change, etc.).

Maintain gasoline and mileage records daily.

Maintain vehicle repair log in maintenance books

Pick up a vehicle and return to the garage daily.

Any other tasks may be required.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED is a must

Clean, valid NYS Driver's License

5 years of driving experience

Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Should have knowledge of the northern Queens area, particularly the College Point, Whitestone, Flushing, and Bayside areas.

Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submit your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
