Job Description
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a self-motivated engineer to join our asset management team.
This opportunity involves working with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and scientists to develop asset management and planning solutions for a wide array of water-related projects locally, regionally, and nationwide. The position also involves collaborating with our Asset Management and Digital Strategies and Solutions teams to leverage Hazen’s advanced planning services and data analytics platform to grow our delivery capacity. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply many of the analytical skills used in asset and utility management projects to assist engineering staff on other planning and design projects.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team, and will have the technical, organizational, and communication skills to:
Guide the development and implementation of utility management solutions and asset management plans throughout their lifecycle
Assist in the development of Asset Management tools, such as structured databases and interactive business intelligence and data visualization dashboards
Perform life-cycle cost analysis of various asset types
Demonstrate proficiency in specialized modeling, technologies, or practices that help drive project delivery and business development
Directly contribute to pursuits, scope development and project management for Asset and Utility Management services
Serve as project manager for a suite of projects, including potentially large contracts or programs.
Coordinate with engineering disciplines and designers to provide solutions to conflicts and supervise junior staff on projects.
Perform QA on deliverables for projects
Participate in work sharing and managing UMS staff for a project or office.
Mentor staff within the Region through project execution and direct interaction
Lead proposal development
Lead project teams to articulate requirements, develop solutions, and develop deliverable templates
Assess client needs/issues and strategize approaches/solutions with project teams
Communicate and interact with clients and internal team members
Minimum requirements for this position include:
BS in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
8-12 years of experience
Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel a must)
Familiarity with water quality and/or water/wastewater conveyance and treatment processes
Experience serving as project manager on water/wastewater or asset/utility management projects
Working familiarity using and managing databases and using business intelligence tools such as Power BI or other related tools
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work with a team or independently
Flexibility to travel as required by contract needs
The ideal candidate will also have one or more of the following:
MS in STEM or MBA
PE License (Virginia and/or Maryland, or ability to be licensed via comity)
Geospatial analysis skills using ESRI applications
Data mining or statistical analysis skills
Familiarity with typical corporate financial protocols and standards
Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, R), SQL, etc.
Familiarity with statistics, advanced data analytics, and machine learning
Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate tools
