Position Title: Import / Export Specialist
Reporting to: Customs Manager
Job Purpose: Ensure full compliance with US and Canada Customs regulations for the regions’ imports and exports.
Main Responsibilities:
Assist in the management of brokers, freight forwarders, couriers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company established policies and procedures; and response to their requests
Timely resolution of customs related issues with airfreights, border crossings, courier shipments, and ocean shipments into/out of United States and Canada. Identify root cause of problems and weak situation with proposing improvement plan
Develop and implement internal Duty Drawback program filing
Manage Reconciliation program
Maintain HTS Classification process
Support OEM FTA solicitations: AALA, USMCA, Country of Origin Certificates, Manufacturer Affidavits
Manage Superfund Chemical Tax Program
Support with import/export required documentation
Assist with brokers statements review and payment
Assist with import/export compliance audits to ensure correct information utilized on shipping and entry documentation
Identify and lead process improvements to decrease costs and increase efficiency
Develop, implement, and maintain department SOPs
Prepare and present Monthly KPI
Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge/Skills and Experience:
Bachelor or advanced degree in related field (preferred) and 3+ years in Import/Export Customs experience OR 5+ years of experience in import / export related activity in lieu of degree
Experience in international trade business and compliance roles, and understanding the supply chain concepts as they relate to the importing and exporting of goods
Experience in US and Canada International Trade Compliance regulations related to import and export processes, controls, and documentation; Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, FTA, INCOTERMS, Country of Origin, Valuation, Duty Drawback, ADD/CVD, reconciliation, First Sale, ACE, ISF, and recordkeeping requirements
Must be proficient in MS-office software (outlook, word, excel, power point), with ability to effectively work with Excel spreadsheets using formulas, functions, and pivot tables
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Requires excellent attention to details and strong organizational skills
Demonstrate initiative, cross-functional collaboration, and a teamwork approach
Self-motivated with a high level of ethical standards; accepts accountability and responsibility for actions
Able to demonstrate resourcefulness and the ability to problem solve by identifying the relevant factor, gather and organize pertinent data, and identify appropriate solutions with internal/external personnel

Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization
SAP experience a plus
Foreign language skills beneficial
