Category Manager - Logistics

Role Overview: Our client, a global industry leader in Mining/Heavy Manufacturing, is seeking a Logistics Category Management expert to lead their FTL and LTL sourcing and supplier initiatives! Responsibilities:

Analyze internal and external data, leverage supply market intelligence, and apply sound procurement strategies to define effective category strategies.

Lead logistics category deployment and manage suppliers across all Company units. Align with business strategy and minimize total cost of ownership (TCO).

Work closely with various stakeholders (procurement, logistics, supply chain, finance, sales, senior leadership) to develop cost-reduction strategies and execution plans. Ensure vendor compliance with capacity, service levels, and safety requirements.

Monitor adherence to established category strategies and take corrective actions as needed.

Conduct large-scale sourcing events, negotiate based on data analysis, and select long-term suppliers. Establish robust contractual agreements.

Coordinate procurement efforts and collaborate with functional stakeholders to identify TCO reduction opportunities. Drive process improvements within the logistics category.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a business discipline preferred

At least 7 years of Sourcing and Category Management experience, preferably across multiple modes of transportation (flatbed truck, rail, and ocean freight)

Must have a proven track record in successful supply chain improvement
