The Communications Specialist supports strategic communications that enhance the Chartway brand and culture. Primary responsibilities include supporting the development and coordination of internal communications, award programs, internal/external public relations, and crisis communications to support business objectives.

Responsible and Accountable For:

Develop and distribute internal communications content across multiple channels, including the internal newsletter, Sharepoint-hosted intranet, internal collateral/presentations, and digital signage to drive engagement.

Own the enterprise communications calendar, working with project and department stakeholders to ensure comprehensive accuracy.

Assist in communication of strategies or messaging from senior leadership.

Create and pitch press releases, media relations content, and speaking proposals.

Monitor and track media mentions to develop measurable public relations results and recommend new strategies to grow organizational PR activity.

Represent the Communications team for various projects/initiatives/events.

Provide support for crisis communications, including both internal and external messaging.

Support development of brand publications that communicate the credit union’s culture.

Maintain communications budget – reconciling and reporting on a monthly basis.

Recommend and assist with the implementation of processes and tools to optimize team productivity.

Adhere to the company’s style guide, ensuring we produce high-quality and error-free copy.

Work with key internal stakeholders to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, ability to thrive under pressure, and excellent organizational skills.

Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to interpret and condense complex information in a modern and user-friendly way.

Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Experience with all Microsoft Office programs and design programs (Canva, InDesign, etc.), and SharePoint. Experience with EverBridge Critical Event Management platform, ContactMonkey (email platform) and Cision Media Monitoring Software a plus.

Strategic and creative mindset.

Education/Experience and Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related filed (essential)

3+ years of experience in Communications or related field.
