Network Specialist

Robert Half is sourcing for a Network and Telecommunications Specialist for an industry leading maritime company, this position would require a hybrid work schedule and occasional travel. Our client is continuing to expand their team and are seeking to add a skilled and specialized IT professional with expertise in VSAT systems and satellite communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical expertise, direction, and assistance to personnel involved in operating and supporting all Remote Operations.

Design & improve connectivity systems, including VSAT and extensions to corporate networks, by considering bandwidth, infrastructure requirements, security, and potential network expansion.

Test and evaluate existing communications systems, identify issues, and create plans to improve efficiency. Report findings and make recommendations for improvements.

Implement new processes and assess emergent technology. Analyze current infrastructure and propose improvements or provide a roadmap based on global designs.

Review requirements (e.g., bandwidth) and implement new infrastructure on vessels with stakeholders, based on global designs. Document systems.

Maintain and improve documentation and procedures related to the design of communications infrastructure and technology.

Provide appropriate training to team members.

Collaborate with architects and IT team members on project goals.

Resolve issues according to Standard Operating Procedures.

Experience and Knowledge:

Education: Bachelor's in information technology, engineering, or equivalent.

Working Experience: 3-8 years, minimum of 5 years in VSAT Networking-based industry.

Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP) is a plus.

Extensive experience with VSAT systems and satellite communications, including proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing satellite-based networks.

In-depth understanding of 4G networks and emerging technologies such as Starlink, with the ability to integrate them into existing infrastructure seamlessly.

Proficiency in AV (Audio-Visual) systems, including applications that drive them.

Expertise in managing VMs (Virtual Machines), including provisioning, monitoring, and optimizing their performance to meet organizational requirements.

Knowledge of fiber optic networks, including installation, and troubleshooting.

Experience in racking and stacking equipment, ensuring optimal physical infrastructure deployment and organization within data centers or onboard vessels.
