Summary

The Head of Supply Chain reporting into the facility site head will launch supply chain operations at Cartesian's Phase 3 manufacturing New Horizon (NH) site, build the supply chain team, create supply chain processes, author documents, and oversee warehouse & inventory operations.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

The Head of Site Supply Chain is a key member of the Cartesian site leadership team and is accountable for all materials management functions, warehouse and site logistics operations, site planning and scheduling, and related drug substance and drug product manufacturing support including technical transfers, equipment modifications, validation, changeovers, and routine/non-routine facilities maintenance projects pertaining to materials

Lead development and implementation of site materials management, warehouse, logistics, and planning processes.

Hire key personnel to grow the Supply Chain team in support of Phase 3 operations. Oversee training and qualification of Supply Chain team operations staff.

Author SOPs and other to govern Materials Management SOPs in coordination with Cartesian's Quality Assurance team.

Assure compliance with Materials Management SOPs.

Direct warehouse activities (including inventory control, shipping, receiving, inter-site transfers, GMP storage and cycle counting)

Oversees the site Materials planner(s) to ensure that safety stock strategies are in place and adhered to, and that manufacturing Bill of Materials are in ERP to support proper procurement of raw materials needed for drug substance and drug product manufacturing campaigns

In addition, ensure allocation of critical materials and/or drug substance are secured in time to meet production schedules

If applicable, direct dispensary operations for manufacturing operations, in support of manufacturing shift structures

Responsible for all safety, quality, training, and compliance regulations associated with the dispensing staff

Direct site scheduling and issuance teams which includes the responsibility for providing the integrated manufacturing finite schedule for all the manufacturing factories

Direct site planning analysts in the development of the site master plan, site production risks and mitigation strategies and lead and coordinate and facilitate site SOP implementation.

Ensure accuracy of ERP and MES systems related to all actions associated with materials management

This position reports directly to the New Horizon Site Head and collaborates closely with global materials resource planning, site Manufacturing, site Quality Control, site Quality Assurance and Finance

The position will direct the development of departmental workflows, workload management, guidance instructions or procedures and general technical support to cross-functional manufacturing, lab operations and office staff and is as such critical to ongoing operations

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in Engineering, Business, Finance, or other related field (M.S. and/or MBA strongly preferred)

Minimum of 10 years of related experience and training; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of 5 years of people management experience

Working knowledge of biopharmaceutical materials and supply chain management. Experience in cell therapy supply chain management strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge in inventory management systems. Working knowledge of ERP systems is essential

Excellent project management skills

Ability to travel on occasion to other Cartesian and/or partner sites for collaboration, support, and training

Work Environment:

The position requires hands-on work setting up and operating equipment in an R&D laboratory. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Cartesian's policies, rules and regulations is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee handles hazardous chemicals in the laboratory. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, shoes, and lab coat. Position may require extended periods of standing.
