District Council No. 51 is a big group of local unions that are part of a larger group called the International Union of Painter’s & Allied Trades, AFL-CIO. They have been working hard for more than 100 years in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and nearby places.

Right now, District Council No. 51 has over 2,000 people who are doing many different jobs. This includes painters, decorators, people who hang wallpaper, those who finish drywall, glass workers, painters who work on bridges and industrial sites, sign makers, paint creators, metal polishers, and many others who work in different jobs for the government and private companies.
