Job Summary:

The Senior Engineer, Mechanical (Power & Utility), is responsible for leading and overseeing the design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within power generation and utility facilities. This position requires expertise in mechanical engineering, power plant systems, and project management. The Senior Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and reliable operation of mechanical equipment and systems, while adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems within power generation and utility facilities, such as boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, and piping systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, process engineers, and maintenance personnel, to develop design specifications and ensure integration of mechanical systems with other plant components.

Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed mechanical system upgrades or modifications, considering factors such as efficiency improvements, reliability, and environmental impact.

Perform detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure the proper sizing, performance, and safe operation of mechanical equipment and systems.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment specifications, maintenance procedures, and operating manuals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, assisting in their professional development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Monitor and analyze the performance of mechanical systems, identifying opportunities for optimization, energy efficiency improvements, and reliability enhancements.

Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to select and evaluate mechanical equipment suppliers, ensuring the procurement of high-quality and cost-effective components.

Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts to resolve mechanical system failures or operational issues, implementing corrective actions and preventive maintenance strategies.

Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and power generation technologies, evaluating their potential application in enhancing plant performance and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Min 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the power generation or utility industry, with demonstrated expertise in power plant systems.

Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems used in power plants, such as boilers, turbines, pumps, and heat exchangers.

Proficiency in engineering software and tools for design, simulation, and analysis, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSYS.

Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing power plant operations, such as ASME, API, and NEC.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate technical concepts to stakeholders at various levels.

Professional licensure or certification in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
