Mobile Crisis Counselor, Marcus Alert

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4pm -12am or 12am -8am and one weekend per month

Salary $53,928

As a Mobile Crisis Counselor, you will play a vital role in responding to behavioral health, substance use, and homelessness-related calls dispatched through the emergency and non-emergency 911 Call Center or Regional Crisis Call Center (9-8-8). You will follow the established MARCUS Alert protocol to provide co-response services, including working closely with first responders and other behavioral health personnel. This role may require collaboration with law enforcement officers, medics employed with the Fire Department, or other Community Services Board (CSB) Crisis Counselors, Case Managers, or Peer Recovery Specialists. Your responsibilities as a Mobile Crisis Counselor will include preliminary mental status assessments, short-term crisis intervention services, making referrals or coordinating admissions to treatment services, and assisting with the transport of individuals to access treatment in various settings.

Mobile Crisis Counselor Key Responsibilities:

Co-respond to behavioral health, substance use, and homelessness-related calls as dispatched through the 911 Call Center or 9-8-8 Crisis Call Center.

Collaborate with first responders, law enforcement officers, medics, and other behavioral health personnel as needed.

Conduct preliminary mental status assessments to evaluate the individual's crisis.

Provide short-term crisis intervention services to stabilize the individual and ensure their safety.

Make referrals and coordinate admissions to appropriate treatment services, including clinics, day programs, crisis stabilization units, medical and psychiatric facilities, or shelters.

Assist with the safe transport of individuals to access necessary treatment services.

Conduct follow-up contacts, either in-person or by phone, and reassessment as required to ensure ongoing support and care.

Mobile Crisis Counselor Requirements: Master's Degree in human services with one year of experience in a psychiatric care setting. Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A or register as a QMHP-A trainee within 30 days of employment. Valid Driver's Licenses.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
