2024 - 2025 School Year Bridgeport Public Schools Human Resources Department 45 Lyon Terrace, Room 324 Bridgeport, CT 06604 TEACHER JOB OPENING LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST (9-12) CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develops library procedures and routines by planning daily activities * Establishes rules and procedures for circulation of materials * Creates an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, resource-based instructional practices, and collaboration with teaching staff * Shares with the learning community collaboratively developed and up-to-date district policies concerning such issues as materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use * Encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning * Commits to remaining current in professional practices and developments, information technologies, and educational research * Collaborates with teachers and students to design and teach engaging inquiry and learning experiences and assessments that incorporate multiple literacies and foster critical thinking * Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: * Required certification: School Library-Media Specialist (062); Master's degree preferred.

* Three years' successful experience in an urban setting preferred.

* Experience in the use of educational technology.

* Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.

Salary will be in accordance with the BEA contract salary schedule.
