Job Purpose:
The Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Manager is responsible for implementing best practice and supporting continuous improvement in the S&OP process, specifically demand planning management. This position should also ensure that the demand plan is aligned to business needs and give direction on prioritization of areas of improvement. This role will be accountable for providing focus and integration of intel from Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to drive the creation of accurate and timely forecasts for Operations.
Additionally, the S&OP Manager will have oversight of daily activities of the Shipping and Receiving operations at the site. This includes indirect supervision of the department staff, the receiving, shipping, storage, distribution of product, ingredients, and packages that are processed through the shipping dock.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Planning
Develop, lead, and execute the master production forecast plan in collaboration with sales, purchasing, operations, inventory, plant leadership and corporate
Direct management of the hiring, training, performance, coaching and advancement of S&OP team members
Coordinate with material planning to ensure production forecast is met
Ensure inventory levels are maintained to meet sales orders
Review, audit and approve all production forecast data and reports (daily, weekly, 6 months)
Continuous focus and monitoring of plant performance and providing insight and recommendations
Prepare, interpret and present relevant reporting and analysis to plant and corporate leadership and Business Planning to improve performance and profitability
Plan and implement improvement actions in Purchasing Planning, Production Planning and Inventory Control to optimize production efficiency and Production/Inventory cost
Develop, document, and communicate production planning processes
Implement process improvements and monitor overall effectiveness of production cycle
Lead technical initiatives to enhance data analysis, implementing planning software (as needed), and serve as an advocate for data integrity
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, networking and staying informed of industry trends and leading practices
Shipping Receiving
Indirect oversight of shipping/receiving personnel at site - ensure proper staffing to receive and distribute materials within the plant in an effective manner
Ensure compliance with all quality and food safety programs following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), food safety checks (HACCP), and product quality checks as required by policies in department.
Notify customer service, production management, quality or other functional areas of issues affecting customer deliveries
Develop, maintain, evaluate, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPI’s)
Evaluate data, organize, and present to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and savings initiatives
Support other team members as necessary, cover absences
Prepare performance evaluation information for your team
Manage defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the S&OP function
Communicate and ensure compliance with Blommer established policies and procedures
Operate within the Blommer core values of respect and care for others
Physical Requirements:
General office environment with majority of time using computer
Regular exposure to plant floor, including noise, dust and variation in temperature (hot/cold)
Safety, Quality and Hygiene Requirements:
Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and code of conduct
Comply with workplace uniform requirements and safety gear, when on the plant floor v. office
Performance Expectations:
Manage product operation with a high set of standards to produce consistent, quality-driven results
Identify and escalate errors in batches, defects in production and any material issues that impede production
Respect work hours and schedules, timely attendance, and notice requirements for absences or lateness
Measured for managing shortages

Leadership and engagement of team to achieve performance expectations
Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
(5+) years of experience in a production environment using and industry standard production planning software
to read and write English to perform tasks successfully
have strong verbal and written communication skills
depth experience running Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, including all aspects of demand and supply planning
be comfortable working in a collaborative purchasing/planning team
team leadership experience
and organizational skills are essential
computer skills with Microsoft Office suite, Excel and spreadsheets
to identify, communicate/escalate and problem-solve as issues arise
Education:
Degree (Supply Chain, Business Management, Logistics, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or related field of study)
CPIM and/or CSCP Certifications preferred
