Process & Scale Up - Engineer (I-III, Senior, Lead)

About Thintronics

More Data. Faster.

Global data volume traffic has been growing exponentially. The onset of AI applications is expected to make this worse. New insulator technology that enables higher frequency data transmission at lower power consumption is required to scale AI infrastructure, starting with the data center fabric. By synthesizing expertise in bottom-up Molecular Design, Computational Mechanics, and Electrical Engineering, Thintronics is unifying and optimizing the high-speed interconnect insulator, from silicon-to-system, enabling the highest data rates at the lowest power.

Thintronics is a start-up company located in Berkeley, CA. We are a team of chemists, materials scientists, and engineers shaping the future of data and devices. We offer an exciting start-up environment at the interface of R&D, machine learning-aided product design, manufacturing, and rapid market implementation.

Job Role – Who We Want

Thintronics is looking for an industrious Process/Chemical Engineer to take ownership of our film production, scale-up, and manufacturing processes. Over an 18–24 month period, we want to rapidly develop internal pilot manufacturing capabilities in two stages to expand our mixing and continuous coating expertise.

In the first stage (< 6 months), we expect you to move quickly to establish our lab-scale coating line, selecting and installing mixing and dispensing equipment, in our new Alameda facility. Subsequently in the second stage, you will be leading or working with the facilities and operations team to design, procure, and install a pilot coating line for Thintronics’ film production capable of 1M sqft/month. Throughout, you will be expected to interface regularly with the product development team, devising new analytical methods to ensure proper component dispersion as needed.

We are seeking entrepreneurial people because here – your impact matters. We want individuals who aren’t afraid of hard work and new challenges; possess a “can-do” attitude; and can work independently as well as collaboratively. If you are interested in developing paradigm-changing materials and working towards breakthrough innovations, then this is the place for you.
