Job Summary:

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will work under general direction, applying their skills and expertise to generate solutions that require development or sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.

Primary Job Function:

Drafts, reviews, or authorizes material requisitions for equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

Generates, reviews, or authorizes lists (equipment, valve, piping, tie-in, and specialty items).

Produces or examines mechanical engineering deliverable status reports and work plans.

Coordinates with client personnel regarding mechanical and piping activities.

Examines and approves vendor drawings and documents.

Coordinates, evaluates, or authorizes PFDs, P&IDs, piping plans, and site layouts.

Attends factory acceptance testing of equipment when necessary.

Experience:

Typically 10+ years of experience focusing on oil and gas pipeline facilities such as

Compressor stations

Pump stations

Metering and regulating stations

Storage terminals

Loading/unloading facilities

Must have CAESAR II experience

Knowledgeable in industry codes and standards published by US Department of Transportation, AGA, ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, MSS, and NFPA, with the ability to apply the standards to oil and gas pipeline facility systems designs.

Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education/Training:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering

PE license is required

Strong technical and design skills

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work with multidisciplinary teams; and deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships

Ability to prepare and interpret design reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutions

Ability to mentor entry level staff on oil and gas pipeline and facility projects
