POSITION SUMMARY:

The position drives and supports the HSE activities under the Connections Technology division. This role is directly responsible for maintaining HSE documentation, monitoring HSE performance, and developing HSE initiatives in line with company objectives. This position supports all departments by providing HSE expertise, direction, support and ensures that HSE related projects and activities are effectively executed and maintained.

DUTIES:

A. HSE

• Maintain primary responsibility for OSHA regulation compliance, ISO14001 & ISO45001 conformance, and Continuous Improvement of HSE reporting and systems.

• Provide guidance to all employees who are responsible for employee safety and accident prevention.

• Inspect operating facilities and work equipment before they are put into service, review working processes before they are introduced for technical safety.

• Develop influence across the organization to ensure that all managers and operating team members act in accordance with OSHA requirements and occupational accident prevention.

• Build regular management review process (JHSC) which includes incident investigation summaries, statistical analysis of incidents, and ergonomic recommendations to improve metric performance.

• Build new employee HSE & Monthly HSE training programs and adjust according to site’s evolving needs.

• Serve as site primary contact for regulatory agency and emergency response needs.

B. Implementation of Internal Procedures

• Develop, implement, document, audit, manage and improve the HSE system meeting the requirements of ISO 14001 and Mattr’s policies.

• Be an active driver of the Company commitment to an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace.

• Ensure new requirements are properly assessed.

• Provide and support HSE-related training as needed.

• Apply Continuous Improvement principles to HSE process flows, practice improvements, and training.

C. Monitoring

• Perform regular audits of safety procedures, plant facility safety systems (i.e., ASAs, safety stations, emergency exits, waste handling procedures, dangerous materials storage, and disposal).

• Use Daily Management Process (DMP) as communication and education platform.

• Monitor the status of occupational safety & health programs and accident prevention measures to evaluate effectiveness.

• Identify & monitor IH risks & engage appropriate resources to quantify & mitigate risks.

• Coordinate with external environmental agencies regarding reporting requirements for the company’s air and water emissions.

• Ensure the organization complies with environmental regulatory reporting requirements (i.e., USEPA, Ohio EPA).

• Monitor and ensure waste disposal practices are compliant with regulations and that internal disposal procedures are followed by designated departments.

D. Reporting & Miscellaneous

• Create and maintain a monthly HSE report.

• Contact for professional association and government concerning HSE matters.

• Appointed Fire Protection Officer of Fairfield, OH facility.

• Assist regulatory agency inspectors (OSHA, EPA, BWC) with requests.

• Manage HSE aspect registry & job hazard report.

• Maintain HSE database, files, documents, and records.

• Manage the Dolphin MSDS system and chemical database.

E. Investigation

• Regular checks of new or changed regulations (source of information: EU, federal & state acts & rules, professional associations or customers).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Holding Bachelor's degree with focus on Industrial Hygiene or Technical discipline

• Occupational Health, Safety, and environmental training, ISO 14001 Training

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of related experience

• Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience

• Solid knowledge of OHSA, ISO14001, MSDS, familiarity with ISO 45001

• Excellent human relations & interpersonal skills, ability to coach and motivate people.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong facilitation and teambuilding skills; good team player.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Well organized, ability to maintain good records and documentation and issue well written reports.
