Reservoir Engineer

Position Type: Direct Hire

Position Location: Dallas, TX

Position Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 (Depending on Experience) + Bonus

Responsibilities:

Private investment firm focused on upstream oil and gas investments, with an initial concentration on North America, Latin America, and the Middle East

Responsible for assisting the technical team in several areas including but not limited to production monitoring and forecasting, type curve creation, LOS analysis, capex analysis, JIB reviews, reserves reporting, asset evaluations, and A&D market surveillance.

Act as a liaison between the technical team and the finance team to convert reserve report statements into outputs suitable for corporate level returns models. A comprehensive understanding of petroleum economics and associated inputs are required.

The successful candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities from a multi-disciplined team and will be expected to adapt to the business needs in various capacities (learning new software, assisting other departments, etc.).

The position will initially be focused on managing existing assets as well as assisting business development efforts and basin studies to grow the portfolio.

Build, manage, update, and manipulate reserves databases in ARIES and ComboCurve to generate cash flow statements and build out full field development models to determine rate of return and economic values of acquisition targets, producing assets, and new drilling programs.

Review and interpret operator data from public and private sources (LOS, AFEs, marketing contracts, operational parameters, etc.)

Analyze drilling, completion, and production data from multiple proprietary and public sources and incorporate findings into acquisition evaluations.

Work with operating partners to identify procedures, practices, and potential targets to maximize the value of assets.

Utilize reserves management software to generate and maintain evergreen type curves and projections based on public and private oil and gas data to determine rate of return and economic values of producing assets and leases.

Perform basin studies to identify trends and production characteristics.

Produce reserve data, comparisons, and reconciliations to understand asset valuations and changes to valuations over time.

Research public oil and gas records to analyze production and performance drivers within areas of interest.

Create summaries and presentation materials of technical work for Investment Committee meetings.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in engineering required; Higher Education is a plus.

5+ years of experience with at least 3 years of experience in a Reservoir Engineering role (BD or Asset Management focus)

Experience in operations or production preferred.

Highly proficient with ARIES, MS Office, and Enverus

Proven track record of handling multiple projects concurrently under tight deadlines

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Direct experience in decline curve analysis, type curve generation, economic evaluation, reserves, well surveillance, and statistical analysis

Some travel may be required (data rooms, conferences, etc.)

Flexible to work a variety of hours which could include nights and weekends as business needs dictate,
