Compensation:

In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Role Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the active management of a prospect and donor portfolio of 100-120 high-priority Southern California prospects. This position aims to create and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for annual and multi-year gifts of $10,000 or more. The Major Gifts Officer serves as a Wayfinder’s leadership team member.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in developing and implementing goals, strategic initiatives, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned areas of responsibility.

Carries a portfolio of 100-125 major gift prospects and actively managing and tracking those prospects through the stages of the donor cycle. Expand assigned portfolio through relationships and introductions.

Qualifying those prospects identified, through analytics and predictive modeling, as having high giving capacity and high likelihood to give to Wayfinder Family Services.

Develops and implements individual cultivation and solicitation strategies. Secures substantive donor meetings (in-person, campus tours and/or via Zoom).

Builds relationships with assigned prospects to bring them closer to Wayfinder and engaging top-level leadership when appropriate.

Creates individual gift proposals commensurate with the prospective donors’ capacity and likelihood to give and their interest and desired impact in Wayfinder Family Services.

Weekly reporting on portfolio and moves-management strategies to the AVP of Development and Donor Relations.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.

At least five years of development experience, preferably in major gifts involving individual, personal solicitation.

A track record of fundraising success, including closing gifts at the $10,000 level and above, developing proposals and fundraising plans and demonstrating creative and innovative approaches.

Strong interpersonal skills; excellent verbal, written, analytic, and communication skills.

Ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate with colleagues in a team setting.

Strong focus on achieving team and personal goals.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to represent Wayfinder Family Services and articulate its mission to various constituencies with poise and diplomacy.

Ability to travel for donor visits throughout California.
