Senior Maintenance Engineer

About This Role:
Global Thermostat is looking for a Senior Maintenance Engineer who is passionate about environmental impact technologies to develop and lead a maintenance program for several pilot scale DAC plants. The engineer will be able to draw on experience to effectively manage the expansion of maintenance programs for operating plants.
Primary Responsibilities
Improve existing Preventative Maintenance (PM) system and documentation for small pilot plants, necessary for continuous operation
Oversee, maintain, and update PM program for small pilot plants
Work closely with the operations team to troubleshoot equipment and direct repairs
Participate in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy
Provide support and input to inventory management
Provide input on cost and schedule of maintenance repairs
Track cost of repairs relative to maintenance budget
Serve as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations
Ensure repairs, repair techniques and equipment specific training are documented and made available
Support the pilot operations director, as required, in reviewing spare parts list for existing equipment
Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions
Complete EH&S orientation and all required training. Exhibit safe work behaviors and works safely without injury or insult to the environment. Fulfill all requirements of the production area and/or maintenance area EH&S
Support Industrial Hygiene and other EH&S work process activities. Incorporate Personnel safety considerations in planning and maintenance implementation. Understand impact of process chemistry with respect to Safety and materials of construction or lubrication
Secondary Responsibilities
Work with Engineering Design team for Product Development of new Direct Air Capture (DAC) Plants, including:
Analysis and design of custom mechanical components in all plants
Analysis of rotating equipment used and available on market for plant reliability, especially liquid water pumps, gas vacuum pumps, and axial fans
Analysis and selection of control valves in high cycle service
Analysis of maintainability & access of new equipment and new plant designs
Perform risk management assessments on existing and future plant designs using industry-standard procedures such as preliminary hazard analysis (PHA) and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) to determine potential mechanical failure points and create mitigation strategies
Participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Analysis) reviews for new plant designs and help identify and mitigate safety concerns through engineering controls, operations procedures, & elimination of hazards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
3+ years of Maintenance Engineering experience in an industrial environment
Basic computer skills (MS Office)
Experience in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Experience in the maintenance of both rotating and fixed equipment
Experience in the troubleshooting of process equipment such as valves and instrumentation
Be able to read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical diagrams and drawings
Be familiar with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) in a processing plant
Be familiar with relevant engineering codes such as ASME and ANSI, NBIC boiler basics, NEC electrical guidelines, and OSHA practices and standards.
Strong communication skills
Willingness to work Monday through Friday day shifts with infrequent nights and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification
Experience in a chemical processing plant
Experience in a startup, small company, or research & development environment
Familiarity with IBC codes and PIP (Process Industries Practices) guidelines
Experience requesting quotes from and managing third party vendors
Salary Range
$100,000 - $130,000
