Job Description

The full time mid-level Practitioner –NP/PA will be responsible for direct patient care and for other administrative duties as designated by the Practice Supervising Physician. The Practice Supervising Physician will provide the overall direction for all patient care activities. The mid-level Provider will act within their professional boundaries and provide care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. Will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice. Will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary medical practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

EXPECTATIONS:

Practice medicine using sound medical judgment and adhere to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine; know limitations and seek consult when advisable; keep abreast of current technologies and industry standards.

Meet all clinical obligations of the medical practice: Accrediting Agency compliance, CLIA compliance, drug prescription compliance, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations, Safety Regulations, etc.

Follow all internal policies and procedures; be accountable for completion of all operational tasks according to departmental guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical processing/documentation.

Advise administration of any issues that may impact the practice.

See patients in a timely and efficient manner, stay reasonably on time for scheduled appointments in family practice throughout the day, unless exceptional circumstances occur. Patient relations, consumer satisfaction and long standing practice goals of staying on time necessitate this important consideration.

The financial viability of the practice requires that all providers be held accountable for their actions with regard to proper coding and appropriate charging for all services rendered.

Charting in the patient’s medical record is routinely to be completed on the same day as the patient’s visit.

Perform the care services listed below (or be willing to learn those services). This is not a comprehensive list of services expected to be performed but are examples:

Minor surgery (toe nail removal, mole and cyst removal, foreign object removal, etc.),

Suturing,

General Orthopedic Evaluations/Management,

Review of x-rays (Radiologist reports usually available),

Basic rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries,

General internal medicine, family medicine and pediatrics,

General Dermatology,

General Eye Problems,

General EKG interpretations,

Emergency management skills,

ACLS and PALS Certification Required,

General GYN Expertise

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Must possess a Medical License through the State of Florida

Maintain Basic Life Support Card

Maintain Advanced Life Support Card

Maintain Board Certification

Maintain DEA Certification, including certification of a buprenorphine waiver

Maintain unrestricted licensure/certification to practice medicine per state guidelines

Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care

Demonstrate the ability to maintain good inter-personal relationships with co-workers and health team members

Communicates through appropriate channels

Demonstrate ability to calculate drug dosages

Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively

Document continuing education per licensure and certification requirements and clinic protocols

Provide customer service in accordance to clinic mission

Demonstrate ability to be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members

Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements

Enact proper chain of command for patient complaints

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Excellent written and verbal communication, teaching ability and good telephone skills. The ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks is required

Must be professional, flexible, caring, and compassionate and exhibit a congenial and sensitive attitude toward patients

Must have a high level of energy with the ability to adjust to any justifiable pace

Make decisions based more on fact than feeling exhibit behavior which emphasizes compassion, quality, loyalty and conscientiousness

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families and staff members
