Manufacturing Engineer

LHH is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a manufacturing client near South Bend, IN. This is an opportunity to join a long-standing organization with a rich history which spans several decades. You will be given the opportunity to learn and develop under a seasoned manager who excels at building a strong, cohesive team. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $85,000-100,000 per year plus bonus and includes several medical insurance options, Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop effective manufacturing processes by evaluating product requirements and designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment to ensure desired results

Improve ergonomics, design machine layouts and assist with installations, improve process flow, etc.

Complete capital projects and process improvement projects

Work with and improve the efficiency of manufacturing equipment

Identify and resolve process operating problems, investigate equipment failures, draft follow-up action reports, and share technical assistance with workers on the floor

Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues during manufacturing process

Coordinate with operations and management personnel to develop a shared vision for the completion of daily tasks and then report on those activities

Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering staff as well as outside contractors to improve equipment care, services, repairs, and work practice

Monitor and improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow while optimizing space and equipment layout

Identify new and creative solutions to resolve complex issues during the manufacturing process

Handle additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required

Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing setting is required

Ideal candidates will have experience with CAD for layouts and new product design

Ideal candidates will have work experience with ISO13485

Must have experience working on the production floor with various types of manufacturing equipment

Must possess the ability to read blueprints

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills

Must possess strong analytical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills

Must be a highly motivated, self-starter who is able to succeed with little supervision

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively work as part of a cross-functional team
