Overview

Our client is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team, focusing on mainframe systems. The ideal candidate will help mature our mainframe support team, collaborating closely with our managed service provider, Ensono. This role requires expertise in z/OS systems, application configurations, and troubleshooting performance issues, with a strong emphasis on MQ series, CICS, DB2, and Linux/AIX platforms. The candidate should have a solid understanding of mainframe development practices and be able to effectively communicate with developers to address their needs. Key responsibilities include:Support SOWs for various projects, including infrastructure configuration and updates.

Troubleshoot performance issues and coordinate updates with project teams.

Automate configuration processes on the mainframe using scripting and process automation tools.

Collaborate with developers to understand application configurations and identify performance issues.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years of experience in mainframe engineering with experience building robust mainframe environments.

5+ years of z/OS systems experience.

Proficiency in CICS TS for z/OS, CICS Webservices, MQ for z/OS, DB2 for z/OS, Control-M for z/OS, IBM System Automation for z/OS, REXX Programming, and z/OSMF.

Extensive MQ Series knowledge.

Hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering.

Scripting and process automation experience.

Extensive knowledge of Mainframe Systems methodology and frameworks.

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mid-tier/infrastructure issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to facilitate technical requirements gathering and design sessions.

Strong customer service skills with internal and external customers.

Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision.

Strong analytical and documentation skills.

Excellent time management ability.
