We're looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist who can develop software and analyze data for Pleno's novel genomics detection assay. Our multi-omic instrument platform merges concepts from biology with a novel telecommunication-inspired signal processing approach to data extraction and analysis. This position will suit you if you have some knowledge of DNA assays such as sequencing and PCR and have worked with genomic data. You will design, troubleshoot and implement algorithms on novel assay data and collaborate on presentations and published articles.
You will collaborate with our Biochemistry, Software and Hardware teams to continuously improve the performance of our data extraction algorithms and develop a powerful suite of tools to fuel our analysis pipeline.
In this role you will:
Design, implement, and maintain algorithms for the analysis of a new type of data at the intersection of telecommunication and biochemistry
Design and troubleshoot padlock probes
Analyze data from complex, image-based assays
Implement algorithms such as CNV callers on novel input data
Collaborate with the Biochemistry team to build and interpret models to characterize signal generation processes
Develop and maintain automated analysis pipelines
Assist in the design and implementation of bioinformatics tools to monitor performance
Collaborate on presentations of data findings or published articles
To be successful in this role you have:
Previous experience in an industry setting working with data from DNA assays such as sequencing and PCR
Experience analyzing large-scale data sets, and familiarity with statistical analysis and machine learning
Familiarity with multi-omic data analysis (for example .vcf files, .bed files, etc.)
Experience with the interpretation of complex patterns such as in methylation or CNV analysis is a plus
Coding experience in Python, R and other languages
Knowledge of git or other version control systems
Education & Experience:
PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field
2-5 years of industry experience
Note: This position will require regular onsite participation at our office/lab in San Diego, CA - to apply you should be resident in the greater San Diego County area or in the process of relocating.
The compensation range presented spans Bioinformatics Scientist II to Senior Bioinformatics Scientist II. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, skills, knowledge and experience, internal equity, and alignment with comparable market data.
