SiLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical-Thermal Engineer with extensive industry experience in photonics packaging and electronic-photonic product design. This pivotal role encompasses the design, simulation, manufacturing, and assembly of comprehensive mechanical and thermal solutions for our cutting-edge electronic-photonic products.

Responsibilities:

Translate product requirements to mechanical and thermal specifications of its packaging.

Develop innovative design concepts with optimal form factors and power dissipation.

Design a comprehensive solution, overseeing manufacturing and assembly processes.

Conduct simulations to validate thermal and mechanical (shock and vibration) performance.

Choose materials for enclosure, epoxies, thermal interface materials (TIM), etc., ensuring they meet product specifications and guarantee durability.

Select appropriate photonic and electronic interfaces (connectors, windows) based on the specifications.

Establish a test plan to ensure the final implementation meets all requirements.

Collaborate with manufacturing partners to transition from prototype to mass production.

Qualifications:

M.Sc. or PhD in mechanical engineering or related field

5+ years industry experience

3+ years of product design experience

Proficient in Solidworks

Familiar with Ansys Icepak and equivalent thermal simulation tools

Comfortable with Ansys Sherlock, Ansys Mechanical, and equivalent simulation tools

Prior experience with thermal management of optoelectronic components

Background in analyzing dynamic thermal behavior of a system and its impact on stress profiles across material interfaces
