Northeast Ohio Engineered Actuation Products manufacturer has an immediate opening for a Purchasing / Materials Manager. This position is responsible for developing and executing the materials strategy and purchasing activity to support growth of the business. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Determine the materials planning strategy and develop and execute implementation plans.
· Implement and follow effective inventory management processes to optimize inventory levels while maintaining customer service expectations.
· Prepare specifications research and select suppliers, request bids and issue purchase orders based on planning requirements and/or purchase requisitions. Ensure thorough and accurate information is flowed down to suppliers. Actively monitor supplier deliveries and take corrective action as necessary.
· Work closely with Operations, Sales and Engineering to coordinate supplier requirements ensuring a timely flow of materials to meet production schedules and customer delivery date commitments.
· Develop and evaluate suppliers including global sources vs. established goals for OTD, quality and competitiveness and implement changes as needed. Manage the AVL through close collaboration with management.
· Respond to customer inquiries, RFQs and delivery updates, information, expedites and problem solving, while interfacing with internal resources to ensure customer’s expectations are met.
· Identify and drive cost reduction efforts through material and OSP cost reductions and negotiations.
· Utilize the E2 Business System to manage supplier bid information including pricing, payment terms and delivery information. Maintain accurate purchasing records.
· Maintain strong supplier relations and proactive communications.
· Follow procedures and comply with the ISO-9000/AS9100 Quality System and internal financial controls.
· Create work instructions and process flows.
· Other duties and backup to other staff members as required.

Qualifications
· BA or BS Degree ideally with a concentration in supply-chain or materials management.
· 7+ years purchasing experience in Aerospace/Defense and/or Engineered Products types of businesses.
· Extensive experience and knowledge of the supply-chain for metals, machining, electronics, electro- mechanical components and related processes including global sources.
· Strong proficiency with MRP and other materials planning strategies with specific examples of success.
· Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools, Shop Tech E2 business system experience is a great plus.
· Deep working knowledge of inventory systems.
· Demonstrated record of success with managing suppliers, cost reductions and quality improvements.
· Strong professional references.
