Job Summary:

West Coast Surgical is currently seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team at our Houston, TX. facility. The Machine Shop Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and oversees the machinists on the shop floor. This role involves programming on CAM systems, optimizing CNC mills and lathes, and supervising machining activities. Additionally, the supervisor designs and controls fixtures for second ops and assembly, manages setup sheets and in-process inspection sheets, and organizes CNC programs and tool sheets. Ensuring equipment maintenance, conducting inspections, and enforcing production record accuracy are crucial responsibilities. The supervisor also maintains high workmanship standards, fosters a safe and organized work environment, and collaborates with other departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise machinists in programming, setup, and optimization of CNC programs.

Design and create fixtures for second ops and assembly, providing guidance and recommendations for improvement.

Manage the creation of setup sheets, packets, and in-process inspection sheets.

Organize CNC programs, setup sketches, fixtures, and tool sheets.

Coordinate tooling for upcoming jobs and oversee equipment maintenance.

Conduct in-process and first article inspections to ensure products meet specifications.

Provide training in deburring, sanding, and polishing techniques.

Maintain accurate production records and enforce adherence to required procedures.

Ensure high standards of workmanship and product quality are maintained.

Assign daily tasks to staff, exercise independent judgment, and promote efficiency.

Assist in creating and updating process and product documentation.

Education and/or Experience (Minimum Requirements):

Associate's degree or 5 years of machining experience.

Completion of a SolidWorks basic training course.

Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in the medical device industry.

Job Specific Training:

Proficiency in mechanical assembly, inspection, and testing.

Knowledge of applicable standards such as ISO 13485:2003, GMP, and QSR.

Familiarity with SolidCAM programming software.

Strong ability to read and understand parts drawings.

Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

The Production Supervisor will collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure the efficient operation of the CNC machining processes while adhering to safety protocols, manufacturing procedures, and company policies.
