PLANT GENERAL MANAGER (Confectionery Manufacturing)

Position Overview:

The Plant General Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day manufacturing operations of the Company. The position is a leadership role that oversees Manufacturing, Packaging, Scheduling, Shipping, Receiving, Maintenance, and Sanitation of a multi-shift operation. This role establishes plant policies and procedures to assure product and personnel safety. This role ensures the production schedule is optimized and consistently on-time; assuring the compliance of all regulations, quality systems, and procedures; plan, organize, direct, and optimize day-to-day operations to exceed yields, delivery, and efficiencies; and maintain a cGMP audit ready, world class facility.

The Plant General Manager will continuously improve culture and identify and implement opportunities to improve quality of products and services, enhance product and employee safety, control and decrease costs, and improve the overall business. This position is pivotal in the engagement of team members to create and maintain a happy, healthy workplace.

Objectives & Responsibilities:

Lead and direct Manufacturing, Quality, Packaging, Shipping, Receiving, Scheduling, Maintenance and Sanitation departments to remove waste and continuously improve product and employee safety, quality, efficiency, delivery, and costs.

Ensure manufacturing capabilities to meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for safety, delivery, quality, and cost.

Develop and lead a continuous improvement culture, utilizing principles and techniques of cGMP manufacturing.

Ensure effective product safety and handling protocols and practices are in place and followed.

Lead and direct hourly and salaried team members to perform and achieve company values, strategies, objectives, processes, and policies.

Lead process improvement for the entire supply chain inside of the company.

Oversee manufacturing business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, and production costs.

Drive compliance to meet all cGMPs, state and federal environmental regulations, and employee welfare requirements.

Develop, train and guide employees to understand and follow SOPs, SSOPs, and Quality standards.

Develop manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.

Establish safety as a top priority in training, equipment, job design, work assignments and regulatory compliance.

Ensure all required resources are addressed and obtained to ensure successful product launches.

Work closely with sales and supply chain to optimize customer and vendor needs.

Manage budgeting, purchasing and implementation of new equipment and services.

Work closely with cross functional teams on manufacturing plans, capacity requirements and new product commercialization.

Develop and manage department objectives, such as OEE, production labor, costs/unit, yields/purge, safety incidents and issues, etc. to meet and exceed targets and goals.

Prepare, control, and execute the annual budgets for the areas of responsibility.

Enable company sustainability strategies and initiatives to move to a zero-waste facility, providing leadership to foster this behavior.

Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

Establish lean manufacturing policies and techniques for materials usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measuring.

Collaborate with the Quality Control Manager to improve overall Quality Assurance programs.

Effectively manage and ensure positive employee relations to promote an engaged and happy workplace.

Ensure workplace safety guidelines are in place and followed by all management and operating staff.

Develop and implement specific plant policies and procedures.

Ensure proper staffing of plant to meet production levels, goals, and growth initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Proven track record in confectionery plant management is required.

Strong knowledge of cGMP’s.

Understanding the process involving dietary supplements.

Background ensuring workforce safety.

Knowledge of budgeting and cost control.

Proven leadership ability.

Background developing and growing direct reports and teams.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Proficient with MS Office.
