As a Textile Associate I, you will collect and distribute clean or soiled linen and scrubs for the efficient functioning of our Mercy Hospital. This is an important role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our caregivers and patients.

Responsibilities:

Collects, stocks and distributes clean and soiled linens.

Performs daily inventory to ensure clean linen and scrubs are accurately stocked for distribution.

Identifies items for replacement.

Records and processes orders for lab coats and uniforms.

Helps employees with fitting of new uniforms. Issues lab coats and uniforms to authorized users.

Sorts and inspects uniforms returned from offsite laundry for quality.

Operates heat seal, button and embroidery machines.

Delivers lab coats and uniforms to staff physicians locker rooms or coat closets.

Unloads soiled items from gravity fed chutes.

Assembles various linen packs for use in Surgery and other departments.

Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications:

None required.

Complexity of Work:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

No previous Textile experience is required.

Will receive on the job training.

Computer or data entry experience preferred.

Six months of experience in a customer service or laundry environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

Ability to move items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

Ability to inspect equipment

May require working with some exposure to communicable disease

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
