Salary:

Industrial Sales and Manufacturing (ISM) manufactures metal component parts and manufacturers products from raw material to end product using various manufacturing and advanced technological capabilities, including precision machining, welding, fabrication, assembly and metal finishing. ISM is seeking a Secondary Operations Supervisor to oversee and support various departments.

While knowledge in the entire product cycle of manufacturing is required, the Secondary Operations Supervisor will primarily be responsible for the oversight of our South Building which includes the operation of the Clean Room, Assembly, and Metal Finishing departments. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, extensive prior manufacturing experience, the ability to collaborate, meet demanding production deadlines, and manage resources effectively to achieve production targets.

Responsibilities:

Departmental Oversight: Manage and provide guidance to the assembly, clean room, paint, and powder coating departments to ensure smooth operations and adherence to production schedules.

Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions as needed, and/or liaise with the Quality Department to ensure product meets specification.

Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation including manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and minimize waste.

Training and Development: Identify training needs within the departments and coordinate training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff members. Ensure that all team members are adequately trained to perform their duties effectively.

Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate existing processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement. Implement changes to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all employees adhere to safety regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions to mitigate hazards and prevent accidents.

Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and mentorship to staff members. Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Communication: Maintain open and effective communication channels within the departments as well as with other departments and management. Ensure that all stakeholders are informed of relevant updates, issues, and progress. Work in collaboration with the Assistant Manufacturing Manager and carry out tasks and duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of raw materials, machining, fabrication and welding. Previous experience in metal manufacturing is essential. Expertise and prior supervisory experience in assembly, clean room operations, paint application, and powder coating processes is required, as is familiarity with relevant equipment, tools, and materials used in these departments.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve production goals while maintaining high-quality standards. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Quality Management: Experience implementing and managing quality control measures in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of quality assurance principles and methodologies.

Resource Management: Ability to effectively manage resources including manpower, equipment, and materials to optimize production efficiency and minimize costs.

Safety Compliance: Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and protocols applicable to manufacturing operations. Experience implementing safety programs and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization as well as external stakeholders.

Teamwork and Collaboration: Proven track record of fostering a collaborative work environment and building strong working relationships with team members and other departments.

Problem-solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Physical Stamina. This role often requires long periods of standing, often involves lifting heavy parts, and moving materials around the facility. While heavy lifting equipment is provided, the candidate is expected to have a good level of physical stamina and be able to work in sometimes challenging climate environments.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field is preferred, but not essential. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Experience in assembly, clean room operations, paint, or powder coating processes is highly desirable.

Certifications:

Relevant certifications in quality management, safety compliance, OSHA or leadership are a plus.
