LAC Federal is seeking a Paralegal I to support a national security client in the Washington, DC Area. The Paralegal will work with attorneys and records managers serving as the primary custodian over case related materials such as subpoenas, search warrants, correspondents, and other documents. The Paralegal monitors and directs all cased related communications between agency attorneys, opposing counsel, subject matter experts, and other federal agencies. The Paralegal also provide coordinates with Litigation Support Services to ensure timely and accurate record keeping. Other duties will include assisting with performing and organizing legal records, drafting memos and requests for discovery, performing document reviews, and assisting with trial preparation.

To excel in this role, you must have strong analytical and research skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and attention to detail. You should be highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently as well as in a team environment. At least some prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant with a state, federal, or private law firm is required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with preference for degrees in criminal justice, paralegal studies or similar area of study

At least some relevant paralegal or legal assistant experience with a federal or state legal entity or private law firm.

Paralegal Certificate preferred but not required

Experience with case management systems and eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity or Everlaw strongly preferred

Proficient in legal research and writing

Strong knowledge of legal terminology and principles

Experience with drafting legal documents and preparing legal correspondence

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with legal team members

Proficiency in using legal databases and software

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer and have resided in the United States for at least 3 of the past 5 years

Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

Candidates with active Top Secret Clearance will be given preference in hiring.
