Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Residential & Commercial Overhead Door Installer to join our team. This opportunity involves working with specialized equipment and tools to install overhead doors and related hardware at commercial and residential sites. Some travel to the communities may be required.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
Following work order specifications to install new door systems and openers,
dock seals and bumpers
Assembling door systems with all the hardware
Installing weather stripping
Removing and disposing of existing doors as needed
Repairing, servicing, and replacing hardware on existing overhead doors
Measure and mark guidelines for orders and later installations
Operating specialized tools and equipment in a safe manner
Assisting with installation of larger projects
Organizing and loading material needed
Assisting with inventory of supplies and materials
Keeping construction site and shop tidy
Monitoring and reporting on job progress on a daily basis
Notifying the supervisor when supplies are low to ensure adequate amounts are ordered and available in the shop.
Maintaining inventory control in work vehicles
Communicating with the Project Coordinator on service calls
Assisting in any and all duties, problems, issues that may arise on a day-to-day basis in installation of products and acting in the best interest of Northerm at all times.
Working with and collaborating with other Supervisors and co-workers.
Work Environment
Working at heights and safety sensitive work sites inside and outside. Physically demanding for heavy lifting, standing, bending, kneeling. Work sites require full PPE. 40-hour work weeks.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary school
Bachelor’s degree an asset
Must have a minimum of 9 months experience in commercial and residential overhead door installing
Aptitude for math, measuring and the use of power/hand tools are a must
Experience working with electric motors, machines and generators an asset
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean abstract
Comfortable working safely at heights
Ability to analyze information and troubleshoot problems
Knowledge of and experience with job related safety procedures
Comfortable working outdoors in any weather conditions
Punctual and strong work ethic are a must
Ability to handle heavy loads
Fall Arrest training
Valid First Aid Certificate
WHMIS certificate
Willing to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Willing to learn and take additional training as required
