We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic & Roadway Engineer in Training to support our East Gulf Region located in Tennessee.
What you’ll be doing:
Assist with preparation of technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies
Assist with development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing
Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans
Assist with and prepare roadway design plans
Work on traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
Attend project meetings with clients
Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics
Potential to learn and participate in business development activities
What you need to have:
BS in Civil Engineering
0 - 4 years of traffic engineering experience
EIT is required
Knowledge in transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, TDOT local programs (beneficial), public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations
Familiarity in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads/InRoads preferred)
Familiarity with TDOT and/or general DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO
Familiarity in traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS
Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Willingness and motivation to curate and eventually develop personal client base
