Continuous Improvement Engineer
Company information:
Equipment manufacturer in the Northwest suburbs is expanding and is hiring for a Continuous Improvement Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager

Must have metal fabrication, automotive or welding or other closely related manufacturing experience

Salary range is based on experience and education: 100K – 130K Job Responsibilities:
Work with the Engineering Manager and Operations teams to improve output for the facility through engineering changes, upgrades, turnarounds and overall improvement of the engineering department
Take ownership of production, assembly, tooling, test & calibration where required
Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings
Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets
Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
Drive safety projects
Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity
Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity
Follow LEAN principles to improve processes, increase efficiencies and decrease downtime
Upgrade the tool room as needed
Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and provide technical training and blueprints for employees.
Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical bottlenecks
Requirements:
BS in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical, Industrial or related
3 – 7+ years’ experience in project engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering roles
Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma is required; prefer certifications
Experience with Design preferred
Experience with SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and/or other 3D CAD modeling software is a plus
Must have experience with manufacturing, prefer experience metals, aerospace, automotive, equipment, punch presses, laser cutting, metal fabrication, welding, forging, die cutting and related environments preferred
Experience with PFMEA, time studies, new equipment, proposals, and related
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
