Lab Assistant

Job Description

The Compounding Lab Assistant will help maintain daily operations in the non-sterile compounding lab and assist the lab compounding technicians and lab pharmacists as needed.

Responsibilities:

-Learn and adhere to pharmacy and lab policies and procedures, processes, regulations and accreditation standards as well as best practices.

-Ensure a clean lab work environment. Wash dishes, load/unload the dishwasher and store clean dishes, wipe down handwashing stations daily, empty garbage as needed, mop as directed, and other cleaning duties as directed by lab pharmacists or the quality management system.

-Input data from QA/QC Weight Variation Worksheets, submit formula updates and corrections, productivity data, and “chemical linking” data; track and trend. Notify lab pharmacist if needed for any discrepancy or unusual or out of spec results.

-Contribute to the continuous improvement of workflow and processes to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction and team engagement. Attend and participate in customer service meetings and other company meetings.

-Process expired, damaged, or other items to be destroyed; facilitate annual controlled inventory; reconcile lab usage of controlled bulk chemicals and stock compounds.

-Complete miscellaneous tasks such as prepare plastic packaging containers using compressed air, fold lab towels, maintain adequate stock supplies and safety gear for the lab.

Skills/Qualifications:

-High school diploma or GED equivalent.

-No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances.

-Ability to be dependable and punctual.

-Lab support staff may be required to stand for extended periods of time

-Some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects up to 25 lbs.

-Consistently use hands for various functions within the lab.
