Summary:

A senior HVAC estimator is responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing bids, and providing technical expertise in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. They analyze blueprints, specifications, and site conditions to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements. Additionally, they collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget while adhering to industry standards and regulations. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are essential for success in this role. The Sr. Estimator will be responsible to follow up with the client and ensure the fulfillment of the proposal. As well as train and prepare other younger estimators.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare conventional bids and conceptual estimates to owners as assigned.

· Review and coordinate final pricing methodology.

· Review quantities, production rates, material quotes and totals for pricing.

· Assist in receiving and evaluating subcontractor and major material quotations.

· Work as lead estimator on individual projects including takeoffs, sub-solicitations, pricing, bid summaries, GC s.

· Review work of estimators and junior estimators to comply with standard estimating practices.

· Prepare and make estimate transfer to budget.

· Oversee and assist Project Management with the preparation of significant project change estimates including change orders and construction claims.

· Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects.

· Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required.

· Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.

· Analyze and evaluate project risks and opportunities.

· Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and availability of materials and services.

· Create comprehensive bid proposals that clearly outline the scope of work, pricing, and any special conditions or requirements.

· Participate in bid meetings and negotiations with clients.

· Track and monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

· Provide support to project teams during the construction phase as needed.

Additionally:

· Evaluate project requirements by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and site conditions.

· Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs for HVAC systems based on project scope and requirements.

· Prepare accurate and competitive bids for HVAC projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and budget constraints.

· Provide technical guidance on HVAC systems, including equipment selection, sizing, and installation methods.

· Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and equipment, negotiating prices and terms when necessary.

· Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to understand project goals and requirements.

· Ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and environmental regulations in all HVAC designs and proposals.

· Identify potential risks and challenges in HVAC projects and propose mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and cost overruns.

· Seek opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or performance in HVAC designs and installations by providing value engineering to general contractors and owners.

· Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bids, correspondence, and change orders for reference and audit purposes.

· Communicate effectively with clients to address inquiries, provide updates, and clarify project details throughout the estimation process.

· Provide guidance and support to junior estimators or team members, sharing knowledge and best practices in HVAC estimation.

· Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in HVAC estimation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

· Conduct quality reviews of HVAC proposals and estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.

These responsibilities require strong analytical skills, attention to detail, technical expertise in HVAC systems, and effective communication and collaboration abilities.

Qualifications:

· B.A. or B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture, or Equivalent Degree.

· 10+ years of estimating experience for large sized commercial projects.

· Knowledge of estimating software such as Viewpoint, Autobid, Estimation, engineering principles and construction principles.

· The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, can communicate effectively both written and verbally, and is able to manage their time with little direction while staying focused on top priorities.
