FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Experience:

Experience in an industrial environment is desirable but not required. Familiarity with hand and power tools is necessary. General knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and equipment would be very helpful.

Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license, good credit, pass random drug and alcohol tests, and have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a US passport.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Installation, repair, and maintenance of induction power supplies, coils, furnaces, refractory linings, busswork, water systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, material handling equipment. Mechanical aptitude is also essential.

Must also have good customer relation skills.

Travel is mandatory up to 80% of the time with occasional weekend work.

SECONDARY FUNCTION

May also be required to handle customer tech support calls and assist the Service Department support staff in any way necessary during the normal course of business. Work in the assembly or test departments is normal during training.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Must understand that as a Service Engineer he/she is the most visible employee of Ajax Tocco that a customer sees and good therefore interpersonal skills are a very important part of this job. The employee must be able to deal with a variety of different persons under high stress conditions and must be able to assure those customers of their ability, as a representative of Ajax Tocco, to solve their problems. Must dress and act per company policies and use good business practices.

TRAINING

Field Service Engineers are required to attend Safety Training classes. All Field Service Engineers are required to have, or to obtain within their first year of employment, an OSHA 10-hour General Industry Card. In subsequent years, additional safety training will be required, some of which may be done on-line.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 50 lbs., and to work in dirty, hot, and/or cold environments, as well as the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
